Gunners Return to the Netherlands 2025
2-11 May 2025

This tour will focus on the 80th anniversary of the Liberation of the Netherlands. The trip will be oriented to the contribution of the Royal Canadian Artillery to Allied Victory, but will also discuss and review the other arms and services when visiting the battlefields. Based in Nijmegen, a “Canadian town” over the winter of 1944-45, the group will visit the Arnhem battlefields of Operation Market Garden, and the sites related to Operation Veritable and Blockbuster - the largest operations controlled by First Canadian Army during the Second World War. The crossing of the Rhine and the airborne Operation Varsity is also in our plans, in which the 1st Canadian Parachute Battalion participated.

We will attend the Dutch Remembrance ceremonies on 4 May, as well as Liberation Day ceremonies in Wageningen, where veterans and uniformed members will have the opportunity to march in the parade.
