Our First Post COVID Public Tour - 4-13 October 2024

Last year we cleared up a few tours that had been delayed by COVID. Our Signals and Logistics battlefield tours in May 23 allowed a very patient group of clients to finally participate in the ceremonies surrounding Liberation and Remembrance Day in the Netherlands and visit cemeteries and battlefields of the Canadians.

This year we will launch a new offering of a tour to the Scheldt and Channel Ports. The Channel Port battles of Boulogne-sur-Mer and Calais were vital but often overlooked contributions of the Canadian Army to the liberation of France. The importance of seizing ports along the Channel coast grew as the Allies drove further into Belgium and Norther France.

We will visit both of these cities and then transition to look at the most important battlefield of the Canadian Army in the Second World War: the Scheldt. If Boulogne and Calais were important, Antwerp was vital to the success of Allied logistics. Liberated on 3 September by the British, the 70 km long Scheldt Estuary leading to Antwerp remained in German hands. Over the fall of 1944 the Canadian Army fought a series of bitter battles in harsh flooded terrain with diminishing resources. This fall marks the 80th anniversary of those battles.

Join us on this tour in a small group that will allow for the exploration of little visited sites. Contact us at infor@foftours.com or our travel agent Merit Travel at BTrudeauSt.Onge@MeritTravel.com
